WE'VE DONE IT!
Since 2007, The Rotary Club of Hebden Bridge has been awarding grants to charities, community projects and good causes from the funds we have raised each year. We are pleased to announce that this figure has now passed well beyond £500K and we are heading towards our next target - £1,000,000!
About three quarters of these funds have gone to our local community where we have supported schools, community centres, sports and arts clubs, youth theatre groups, health support groups, hospices, disadvantaged children’s activities, facilities for the elderly, flood relief, the manufacture of COVID-19 PPE and much, much more.
We also support national and international humanitarian causes such as Shelterbox (rapid response aid following natural disasters) and Polio Plus (the Rotary initiated drive to eradicate Polio worldwide).
We help in other ways too, by providing volunteer help at community events such as Light up the Valley and the Pumpkin Trail and providing voluntary stewards at events such as the Brass Band Competition.
Scroll left or right in the “Recent Grants and Activities” section on this page to see much more about the 30+ charities and organisations we have helped in the past year and details about their activities.
None of this would be possible without the support of the people who support our fund-raising events. Thank you, to all of you who have contributed!
The Rotary Club of Hebden Bridge is part of Rotary International, a global network of 1.4 million neighbours, friends, leaders, and problem-solvers who see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change, across the globe, in our communities, and in ourselves.
Our main events
Funds for grants and other activities come mainly from our two large annual events, the Duck Race and the Vintage Weekend. These are fun days out for all the family. This year one of our members is donating a number of his paintings as an art exhibition fundraiser, see below for details.
