Ask the Question!

A £950 grant to Ask the Question (ATQ) from our Rotary Club, for new laptops and a headset. ATQ works to improve educational outcomes for vulnerable Calderdale children and young people who have been affected by adverse childhood experiences and whose education and confidence has suffered as a result. They do this though a programme of bespoke and individualised one-to-one tutoring sessions and learning support to enable the children to achieve their potential, both academically and in day-to-day life. As well as this, the organisation is a part of the warm spaces initiative, where support is provided to many vulnerable people by providing WiFi and a warm, safe environment. ATQ aims to bridge the gap of inequality in the education system, in order to enable every child to attain the best of their potential. Organiser, Jo, said “Thanks for your incredibly generous donation. Please be assured we will be putting this to good use whilst there are excellent reconditioned laptops and headsets available in the Seasonal sales”.

For much more information see their website at: Ask The Question (atq.org.uk) and their Facebook page: ATQ.

Student volunteer, Grace, says:

On behalf of all the volunteers, tutors and students at ATQ, we would love to say a huge thank you to the Rotary Club of Hebden Bridge for their generous donation and support. As a non-profit children’s CIC, the work we do can be extremely challenging, but the effect that plays on vulnerable children’s lives is immeasurable after the adverse experiences they have been subjected to throughout their childhood. The Rotary Club’s generous grant has allowed us to provide laptops to our students which can be used for research in their studies, increasing their independent learning resources, confidence in their educational aspirations and self-esteem and resilience, as they will now have the same resources as their peers. It will also allow us to build on a huge goal for ATQ; reaching more vulnerable young people who need our support. Via our online learning services, the Rotary Club has allowed us to reach out and help more children, suffering from abuse, trauma or neglect, helping them to cultivate the foundations for their future through a positive specialised support system that they can trust. To give safe, stable and positive relationships to our students, whilst providing key learning support could not be done without the support of local organisations like the Rotary Club, so again from everyone here at ATQ, thank you.
