A grant for The Northern Powerhouse Boxing Academy (NPBA)
from Rotary Club of Hebden Bridge!
The NPBA is the first boxing club in the UK led by women. Their mission revolves around making
positive contributions to the physical and mental well-being of their community. They achieve this
by creating a safe and welcoming environment that fosters empowerment and fun through boxing,
exercise, and social inclusion.
General manager Josie McNamara says The Rotary Club of Hebden Bridge was the first organisation
to offer NPBA support in our ambitious plans to relocate. The new equipment is already being used in
our existing premises and will continue to be useful when we move. Thanks to the Rotary Club!
The academy offers 20+ sessions per week, plus workshops, courses, holiday clubs, and free access
to sports for those in need. Generous funding helps to ensure that everyone can enjoy the benefits of exercise.
They take pride in providing affordable drop-in access to exercise.
In the past year 2022, NPBA has served nearly 500 individuals, with a total participation of over
6,500, aged from 7 to 77, representing diverse social backgrounds, ethnicities, and genders.
Feedback underscores the vital role played by NPBA, particularly during challenging times. In some
instances, the academys support has even been lifesaving.
NPBA is currently raising funds to enable relocation to a larger and improved facility.
