Time Out / Healthy Minds
Thanks to a generous £1,000 contribution from the Brian Boocock’s Bursary (Rotary Club of Hebden Bridge), Calderdale’s Healthy Minds / Time Out initiative hosted a fantastic summer holiday programme. This initiative aimed to boost artistic skills, confidence, and wellbeing in local children.
The funding supported the “Bronze Arts Award in a Week” programme, where participants had the chance to earn a nationally accredited award that can provide UCAS points for future university applications. The week culminated in a vibrant display of the artwork produced by the young participants, celebrating their achievements with friends, family, and the community. You may have admired the pictures in local shop windows.
The Bronze Arts Award helps young people aged 11-25 enhance their artistic abilities, research, and communication skills while fostering leadership and creativity. Throughout the week, participants built a portfolio documenting their artistic journey and accomplishments.
The grant also supported two local artists who led the sessions at Hebden Bridge Library and another central venue. Participants engaged in creative projects and visited an art exhibition, learning from established artists.
