Renewed Support for Valley Community Meals

We're delighted to announce that our Club has renewed its support for Valley Community Meals.  Another £1,200 will contribute to their operational costs over the next 6 months, ensuring they can continue their invaluable service to our community.

Valley Community Meals is a volunteer-run initiative that provides essential support to residents in the Upper Calder Valley.

Here's what they do:

  • Weekly Community Meals: They host a weekly evening meal open to all, no questions asked. The service includes a 3-course meal (soup, main course, and dessert) prepared by volunteers, including a cordon bleu trained cook.

  • Social Interaction: Beyond nutrition, these meals offer a chance for social connection. Service is spread over two hours to encourage guests to stay and chat, with unlimited tea and coffee available.

  • Flexible Service: They offer takeaway options for those who need to eat and run, ensuring no one misses out on a meal.

  • Community Collaboration: As an independent non-profit cooperative, they work with local businesses for food donations and other service providers to offer comprehensive support.

  • Volunteer-Driven: The entire operation is run by dedicated volunteers from diverse backgrounds, fostering strong bonds within the community.
